Visualizations

The Visualizations section allows you to view Visualizations and Dashboards, access Data Discovery Tools, and build and save Visualizations.

The Visualizations functionality is divided into the following tabs:

Search all: Search and view Visualizations, Data Discovery Tools, and Visualization Dashboards.

Favorites: View Visualizations that you have favorited.

Owned by me: View Visualizations that you have built and saved.

Builder: Search and select a Visualization template to build a Visualization. Learn more about building Visualizations.

Search and view Visualizations

You can perform the following actions on the Search all tab:

1. Search Visualizations by keywords. For example, “Ethiopia conflict.”

2. Filter by Visualization type:

   1. Visualizations: Visualizations from other users that are shared with you, in addition to Visualizations that you have built and saved.

   2. Data Discovery Tool: Visualizations that provide insights into the data held in the FEWS NET Data Warehouse. Learn more about Data Discovery Tools.

   3. Visualization Dashboard: Dashboards of multiple Visualizations. For example, the Afghanistan Markets and Trade Dashboard includes Visualizations showing prices and exchange rates.

3. View search results in either a grid or list layout.

4. Favorite a Visualization by clicking the star. Click the star again to unfavorite.

5. Click on a title to open the Visualization.

Interact with Visualizations

Interactive features vary by Visualization. Options include:

• View details

  • Zoom in and out

  • View the Visualization in full screen

  • View Data Point and time series details:

    • Charts: Hover over a point to view Data Point details. Keyboard navigation is supported. After tabbing to the chart, use the arrow keys to move between Data Points.

    • Maps: Click on a Geographic Unit to view the time series chart

• Change the view

  • Select a data layer from the dropdown in the Visualization header

  • Click on a legend item to hide the corresponding Data Series. Click again to re-add the Data Series.

• Download and share

  • Download a static PNG image

  • View or download data

  • Copy the Visualization URL

Example: User Selected Remote Sensing Map

The User Selected Remote Sensing Map allows the following interactions:

• Choose a data layer

• Zoom

• Enter full screen

• Select a Geographic Unit to see a chart of data over time

• Download a PNG

• Copy the Visualization URL

The Current Historic Price Comparison Chart allows the following interactions:

• Remove and re-add Data Series

• Hover over a point to see Data Point details

• View and download:

  • View in full screen

  • Print chart

  • Download PNG image

  • Download CSV

  • Download XLS

  • View data table

• Copy the Visualization URL
