Data Discovery Tools provide insights into the data held in the FEWS NET Data Warehouse through a variety of interactive visualizations.
The Data Discovery Tools available in FDE include the following:
-
Crop Production Explorer Tool: Visualizes crop data coverage and crop production quantities by country and by year. Additional breakdowns by season, admin level, and Indicator are available.
-
Data Freshness Tool: Confirms the status of existing Data Collections in the FEWS NET Data Warehouse across multiple Data Sources and Collection Periods. Data Collections that are scheduled but not yet loaded are displayed with a missing status.
-
Data Inventory Tool: Visualizes the full scope of data available within the FEWS NET Data Warehouse. You can explore the breakdown of Data Points added over time as well as the cumulative Data Point count for different Topics and Document Types, Data Usage Policies, and countries or country groups.
-
Import Dependency Tool: Compares the dependence of different countries on imports from specified exporting countries using data from UN Comtrade, UN Development Programme (UNDP), and LandScan.
-
Trade Partner Dependency Tool: Uses data from UN Comtrade to provide a detailed look at a specified country’s imports over time. You can explore breakdowns by product groups and trade partners.
-
Unit Relationships Tool: Displays the current and historical number of Geographic Units for each administrative level in the FEWS NET Data Warehouse, along with how many of these units have defined relationships that allow data aggregation over time. This is particularly useful for understanding spatial data availability when conducting historical analysis.
