The BSS Setup menu contains administrative screens for adding and managing Source Organizations, Livelihood Zones, Livelihood Zone Baselines, Baseline corrections, and Communities.
Source Organizations
Each Baseline Storage Sheet (BSS) uploaded to the database must have an associated Source Organization. The Source Organization is the organization that produced the BSS and is responsible for any corrections or maintenance needed.
Source Organizations have three fields:

Name (required): A short name for display.

Full name (required): The full name of the organization.

Description: Any extra information or detail about the organization that may be relevant.

Livelihood Zones
Each BSS uploaded to the database must have an associated Livelihood Zone. Livelihood Zones may be associated with more than one BSS, but each BSS can only have one Livelihood Zone.
Livelihood Zones have the following fields:

Code (required): The primary identifier for the Livelihood Zone. This code should be unique.

Alternate code: An alternate identifier for the Livelihood Zone, typically a meaningful code based on the name of the Zone.

Country (required): The country of the Livelihood Zone.

Name (English) (required): An English name for the Livelihood Zone.
-
Name (French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic): Names in additional languages are optional.
-
Description (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic): Livelihood Zone descriptions can be added in any available language.

Livelihood Zone Baselines
BSS can be added individually and managed from this screen. Baselines contain the following fields:

Livelihood Zone (required): The Livelihood Zone associated with this Baseline.

Livelihood Zone alternate code: Inherited from the chosen Livelihood Zone.

Country: Inherited from the chosen Livelihood Zone.

Name (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic): Names for the Livelihood Zone Baseline in available languages.

Livelihood Zone type (required): Livelihood Zone types include agricultural, agropastoral, irrigation, pastoral, peri-urban, and urban.

Source Organization (required): The organization that produced the BSS and is responsible for any corrections or maintenance needed. If the Source Organization does not exist, a new one can be added from this screen.

BSS Excel file (required): The original BSS file in an .xlsx format.

BSS language: The language in which the BSS is written.

Profile reports PDF file (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic): PDF files of profile reports associated with the BSS can be added.

Reference year start date (required): The first day of the month in which the reference year begins. You can use the calendar date picker or enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. For example, if the reference year begins in April of 2023, enter a date of April 1, 2023 as 2023-04-01.

Reference year end date (required): The last day of the month in which the reference year ends. You can use the calendar date picker or enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. For example, if the reference year ends in March of 2024, enter a date of March 31, 2024 as 2024-03-31.

Valid from date: If there are multiple Baselines for a location you should specify when a specific Baseline is valid. Enter the first day of the month that the Baseline is valid from. You can use the calendar date picker or enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. For example, if the baseline is valid starting in April of 2023, enter a date of April 1, 2023 as 2023-04-01.

Valid to date: If there are multiple Baselines for a location you should specify when a specific Baseline is valid. Enter the last day of the last month in which the Baseline is valid. You can use the calendar date picker or enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. For example, if the baseline is valid through May of 2023 but a new Baseline should be used starting in June 2023, enter a date of May 31, 2023 as 2023-05-31.

Data collection start date: The date that the data collection for the Baseline began.

Data collection end date: The date that the data collection for the Baseline ended.

Publication date: The date the Baseline was published.

Currency (required): The default currency for income and expenditures from the Livelihood Activities within this Baseline.

Description (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic): Livelihood Zone Baseline descriptions can be added in any available language.
Additional
There are some additional fields related to population that you can choose to view or edit. Although different organizations may choose to use alternate sources of population data when conducting outcome analysis, it is common for the organization that conducts the baseline survey to provide a population estimate for the livelihood zone at the time of the baseline.

Population source: The data source for the Population Estimate, e.g. National Bureau of Statistics.

Population estimate: The estimated population of the Livelihood Zone during the reference year.
Livelihood Zone Baseline corrections
Existing Baselines will list all associated corrections at the end of the page. New corrections can be added from this screen as well.
Baseline corrections
Individual corrections can be added or managed from this screen.
Corrections contain the following fields:

Livelihood Zone Baseline (required): The Baseline that must be corrected.

Worksheet name (required): The tab in the Baseline spreadsheet that needs to be corrected.

Cell range (required): The cell or range of cells that must be corrected (e.g., Q5 or BG4:BJ4).

Previous value before correction: The original, incorrect value in the Baseline spreadsheet. Be sure to put the value inside double quotation marks. For an empty or null value, use ““.

Corrected value: The new, correct value for the Baseline spreadsheet. Be sure to put the value inside double quotation marks. For an empty or null value, use ““.

Correction author (required): Choose your username.
-
Correction comments (required): Add a brief description of the error and correction. If there is an associated Jira ticket, mention it here.
Communities
Each Baseline will be associated with several communities. These are the villages and neighborhoods where the community and wealth group interviews occur. Communities contain the following fields:

Name (required): The name of the community (e.g., Alahina).

Full name (required): The name of the community, plus the parent administrative units (e.g., Alahina, Keniéba).

Livelihood Zone Baseline (required): Choose an existing Baseline. Communities can not be added without a corresponding Baseline.

Livelihood Zone Alternate Code: Any alternate codes associated with the Livelihood Zone for this Baseline will be automatically added to the Community.
-
Country: The country associated with this Baseline will be automatically added to the community.
-
Aliases: A list of alternate names and spellings for the community. If adding new aliases, they should be separated by commas.
-
Interview number: An interview number or interview code assigned to the Community.

Community interview date: The date that the Community Interview (Form 3) was conducted.
-
Wealth group interview date: The date that the Wealth Group Interviews (Form 4) were conducted.
