Household Economy Analysis (HEA) Baseline Database

User Management

Because the Livelihoods Explorer data is public and the application does not require a login, user management for this application is minimal.

However, the following standards are used to manage users and permissions for the administrative side of the database.

  • Creating user accounts: Accounts should be created for users who will add or maintain code, data, and/or metadata.

  • Removing user accounts: Accounts should not be deleted once a user is no longer actively adding or maintaining code, data, and/or metadata. Instead, the box marking the user as Active should be unchecked.

  • Assigning permissions: In general users of this system should not need to be assigned individual permissions. Instead, users should be given Staff status to allow them to log in and fall into one of two categories:

    • Superuser status: This status designates that a user has all permissions without explicitly assigning them.

    • Group member: Groups are used to manage specific roles within the database, such as Baseline Administrator. Permissions should be assigned to a group, rather than to individuals.
