BSS Production Data

Crop production

Community level crop production data for a crop-producing community is captured in Form 3 and stored in the BSS 'Production' worksheet. This data supports the cross checks for the Livelihood Activity data and expandability/coping data that is contained in the LIAS. This data is not ingested from the BSS automatically.

Community Crop Production contains the following fields:

  • Community or village: The community that corresponds with this entry.

  • Crop type: The CPCv2 code and name of the crop that corresponds with this entry.

  • Crop purpose: Indicates if this is a main food crop or a cash crop.

  • Season: Indicates the primary production season for the crop.

  • Yield with inputs: The yield of crops that require inputs (e.g., seeds and fertilizer) in the reference period.

  • Yield without inputs: Yield in the reference period without inputs

  • Seed requirement: Required seed amount in kilograms.

  • Crop unit of measure: The unit used to measure the yield of this crop in this community.

  • Land unit of measure: The unit used to measure land area in this community.

Livestock production

Community livestock production represents animals typically raised by households in a Community, with relevant additional attributes. This data is captured in Form 3 and is stored in the BSS 'Production' worksheet. This data supports the cross checks for the Livelihood Activity data and expandability/coping data that is contained in the LIAS. This data is not ingested from the BSS automatically.

Community Livestock Production contains the following fields:

  • Community: The community that corresponds with this entry.

  • Livestock type: The CPCv2 code and name of the livestock that corresponds with this entry.

  • Birth interval: The typical number of months between births.

  • Wet season lactation period: The number of days of lactation during the wet season.

  • Wet season milk production: The number of liters produced each day during the wet season.

  • Dry season lactation period: The number of days of lactation during the dry season.

  • Dry season milk production: The number of liters produced each day during the dry season.

  • Age at sale: Age in months at which the animal is typically sold or exchanged.

  • Additional attributes: Any additional attributes that are relevant.
