October 2026 Release Notes | FEWS NET Help Center

The following list of new features and updates are included in the latest Sprint 26.09 release to the FEWS NET Data Platform.

New features

Reports domain

The new Reports domain in FDW allows for the addition and management of reports, report content item types, and rich text content items using the admin screens (DATA-4290).
Rich text for dashboards and assumptions/key messages can be added to the Reports domain (DATA-4666).

Updates

Visualization updates

Adjusted the subtitle of the FEWS NET website home page map to reflect the projection period end, accommodating the different start dates that may exist for the same period (DATA-2790).
Adjusted language for the AFIC timeline map legend and pop up charts to clarify that historic assessed outcomes use Current Situation data (DATA-2923).
HFA wheat bags will now be displayed on the AFIC map using representative_point when the centroid falls outside of the boundary, to prevent issues of wheat bags appearing outside of admin units with a concave or elongated shape (DATA-5764).

Adjust DataCollectionAssetResource.import_id_fields to avoid duplicates (DATA-5557)

Updated the import of Data Collection assets to FDW to ensure blank or omitted URL/URI fields do not lead to duplicated assets.

Ensure classified products used_for_country filter accepts multiple countries (DATA-5692)

Updated the used_for_country filter for the /classifiedproduct API endpoint to accept multiple country codes. This will support the implementation of an additional cascading filter in FDE.

Calculate workbook dimensions during XLSX import (DATA-5790)

Improved the upload of XLSX worksheets without dimension metadata to FDW by ensuring that the reader calculates the dimensions before reading the rows. This prevents unnecessary upload failures and preserves all data while allowing existing cleanup to remove empty trailing columns and handle variable-width rows, formatted blank cells, and data extending beyond headers.

FDE Updates

Selected filters drawer functionality is missing for AFIC, AFIPE, and HFA domains (DATA-5580)

Added the Selected filters drawer to the Acute Food Insecurity Classification, Acutely Food Insecure Population Estimate, and Humanitarian Food Assistance topic pages.

Fix irrelevant text displayed in Forgot Password workflow windows (DATA-5763)

Updated the Forgot Password workflow to display clear and relevant instructions when entering an email address and setting a new password.

Added a popup window that displays before non-staff can download data or access an API link that contains non-public data. The user must select the Accept button before proceeding and can select the link to the FDE Knowledge Base for more details.
