August 2025 Release Notes

The following list of updates and bug fixes are included in the August 2025 release to the FEWS NET Data Platform. A number of backend tasks, not detailed here, were also completed to restart the infrastructure after the pause in operations.

Updates

Delete fdw.fews.net cookies (DATA-4099)

Cookies will be deleted when users initiate a Single Sign-On (SSO) login or password reset to prevent login issues.

Order queryset for the DataCollection publish, submit, and review actions (DATA-4322)

The Submit, Publish, and Review functions in FDW now process the selected Data Collections in descending order based on their Data Collection date, helping to accommodate bulk Data Collection publishing.

Review IPC Classification Data Series extracts (DATA-4348)

Improved the consistency of Data Series extracts from the IPCClassification endpoint and ensures Data Series without Data Points gives a data_point_count of 0.

Show markets and border points in spatial map (DATA-4463)

The map visualization in the FDE Spatial domain now renders the market and border point unit types.

Prevent duplicate cache refresh tasks (DATA-4476)

Ensures that duplicate cache refresh tasks are not created for a given a cache request ID and extends the expiry time for tasks in the queue.

Include status of cached responses (DATA-4477)

The cached response database table in FDW now includes the HTTP status code of the last response, indicating whether a valid response was returned.

Revised Data Explorer customize panel and download/API link interface (DATA-4569)

Moved the Customize drawer in FDE to the left side of the panel, and moved the download options to the bottom of the domain pages alongside the API link. The API link now remains visible while scrolling the domain pages.

Bugs

FDE Bug (DATA-4044)

An alias for a product was pulling additional data from additional countries into Crop extracts for Somalia. Extracts for Somalia’s crop data are now working as expected.

Online data uploads do not display error messages (DATA-4249)

Error messages were not displaying as expected when uploading data from the Data Point admin pages. Error messages are not visible in a browser to help users correct the upload file.

Label name shown for selected filters (DATA-4335)

Label names were erroneously showing up in the Selected Filters drawer in FDE. The label names are now hidden so only the selected filters are shown.
