Acute Food Insecurity Classifications (AFIC) and Humanitarian Food Assistance (HFA) data can be uploaded for camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs). This page describes the process for preparing and uploading IDP camps to FDW.
Prepare IDP camp uploads
Pre-upload steps
In FDW, IDP camps are attributed to a Source Document and Geographic Unit Set that are specific to the IDP camps for a given country.
For example, IDP camps in Kenya are added to the following:
-
Source Document: FEWS NET: Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET), Kenya, Settlements of Displaced Populations.
-
Geographic Unit Set: Kenya - IDP camp Geographic Unit Set
The Data Source Document must exist in FDW before uploading IDP camps.
Add a Data Source Document
Use the following steps to create a Data Source Document:
-
Go to Metadata Management > Warehouse > Source Documents.
-
Use the Add Source Document option to add a new Source Document.
-
Select Geographic Unit Set: IDP Camps for the
document_type. -
Name the Source Document using the naming convention FEWS NET: Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET), <Country>, Settlements of Displaced Populations.
-
See Source Organizations and Source Documents for more information on the available fields.
-
The Geographic Unit Set does not need to be set up prior to upload. FDW will use the Source Document name and country to create a new Geographic Unit Set if it does not yet exist upon upload of the IDP camps. Learn about managing Geographic Unit Sets.
