The SMPG was originally developed, in Excel, by Diego Pedreros based on previous work done by Greg Husak, with the support of Chris Funk, Greg Husak, Eric Alfaro, Hugo Hidalgo, and James Verdin. The Excel version was then programmed in Python by Jeaustin Andrey Sirias Chacón with the financial support from the Vice-Presidency of Research of the University of Costa Rica under project B8766 (Hugo Hidalgo, P.I. and Eric Alfaro, A.I.) of from the Universidad de Costa Rica CIGEFI, UCRT. The QGIS plugin was developed by Juan Pablo Diaz from the Universdad del Valle in Tulua Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
