Logos
FEWS NET uses the FEWS NET logo, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) logo, and logos for organizations who partner to implement FEWS NET work.
The USAID logo always appears alongside the FEWS NET logo on branded materials unless a specific exemption is approved by USAID.
FEWS NET logo
The FEWS NET logo is a representation of the Famine Early Warning Systems Network and is a shorthand for the expertise and importance of the organization. For almost 40 years, FEWS NET’s distinct globe logo has been a symbol of our leadership in producing trusted, independent food security analysis.
Overview
The current FEWS NET logo is comprised of the globe logomark and a logotype which may optionally include the full name of the organization.

Full color logo
This is the correct variant to use in most cases.
Full color logo with name
Use this variant for partner reporting.
Use this variant when the logo will be a “headline” introducing FEWS NET and will be large enough for the name to be legible.
Do not use this variant on a FEWS NET branded document as a substitute for writing out the name of the organization in text.
Full color logomark
Use this variant to represent FEWS NET in circle- or square-only formats like a social media profile picture, or as part of a graphical object.
Usage
It is critical that all instances of the logo are consistent. Using the logo correctly upholds the integrity of the FEWS NET brand.
Acceptable variants
The FEWS NET logo may be rendered with a horizontal orientation or stand-alone logomark seal. The logo is available in full color, black, white, or grayscale.
Minimum size
Set the logo to a minimum of 72 pixels or 3/4 inches in height.
Minimum clearance
Give the logo breathing room and define a minimum clear space. The minimum clear space is measured by the x-height of the logotype in the horizontal version of the logo. Other graphic, image or typographic elements should not appear in that space.
Background contrast
Place the logo on backgrounds that provide excellent, accessible contrast. Here is an example of the type of background where the logo should be placed.
Don’t
Use the logotype without the globe logomark.
Change the font or rearrange the logo.
Recolor, make transparent, or use a low-contrast background. Only use black, white, or grayscale logo variants in cases where the logo appears on a colorful background that would make the full color logo hard to distinguish, in materials made to print exclusively in black and white, or where the logo is included alongside other logos that use one of these color profiles.
Stretch or squash the logo. Always use the original aspect ratio of 3.66 by 1. It is easy to spot a stretched or squashed logo because the globe logomark will appear as an oval, not a perfect circle.
Add additional text to the logo.
Co-branding
The FEWS NET logo is typically presented alongside one or more partner logos. At minimum, the USAID logo is always included with the FEWS NET logo on FEWS NET materials unless otherwise specified by USAID. Ensure minimum clear space on all sides of the FEWS NET logo and USAID logo and use unaltered versions of each. See more information about using the USAID logo.
In general, the FEWS NET logo should be displayed at visually equal size and prominence as each of the other partner’s logos. When using partner logos it is important to ensure all logos are of visually equal weight. In general, this means that the logos are about the same height. However, if a logo is particularly small in width, or light in color, the logo may need to be made slightly taller than other logos. Likewise, if a logo is particularly large in width, or dark in color, the logo may need to be made slightly shorter than other logos. A good rule of thumb to follow is that your eye should be drawn to all logos equally and not one in particular when you look at the page.
Make sure to follow all preceding specifications for FEWS NET logo usage when making adjustments to the logo for co-branding.
USAID logo
USAID is an integral part of FEWS NET. The relationship between the two entities is represented by use of the USAID logo alongside the FEWS NET logo on all FEWS NET materials unless otherwise specified by USAID.
The following guidance about USAID logo usage is only intended as a job aid for internal FEWS NET users and is not meant to replace or contradict USAID’s own brand specifications. Refer to the USAID branding resources page to confirm USAID brand compliance.

Usage
Overview
FEWS NET uses only the USAID horizontal logo, which is the version intended for co-branding with other horizontal logos and the most widely used version of the logo.
The USAID logo has three approved color options. They are: two-color, black-only and white. The two-color logo, including type mark and seal, should be used whenever possible. The white logo should only be used on photos, in small size social media graphics and in slide decks.
Two-color
Black
White
It is critical that all instances of the USAID logo are consistent. Using the logo correctly upholds the integrity of FEWS NET’s relationship with USAID.
Aspect ratio
Do not stretch or squash the logo. It is easy to spot a stretched or squashed logo because the logomark will appear as an oval, not a perfect circle.
Size
Do not scale the logo smaller than 100 pixels or 1.33 inches in height.
Minimum clearance
A minimum area within and surrounding the logo must be kept clear of any other typography as well as graphic elements such as illustrations, thematic images and patterns, and the trim edge of a printed piece. More than the minimum clear space is encouraged. Minimum clear space on all sides of logo is equal to the height of the “U” in the logotype.
Co-branding
Additional clear space is required when co-branding materials with partner logos. The USAID logo should be placed in the left corner with partner logo(s) to the right. It is important to ensure all partner logos are of visually equal weight and nothing has more prominence than the USAID logo. Any bold type logos should be same height as USAID type mark (descenders may fall below the line). Minimum clear space on all sides of the USAID and partner logos is equal to the width of the “US” in the USAID logotype.
Partner logos
Quick links
The current list of FEWS NET partners changes frequently. The following logo files are presented for quick reference and are not intended to constitute a formal listing of all FEWS NET partners. Partner logos may also become out of date, so refer to each partner’s brand resources to confirm brand compliance.
Usage
When they are used, partner logos should always appear directly adjacent to the FEWS NET and USAID logos. Partner logos should follow their own organization’s co-branding standards without superseding FEWS NET’s standards.
There are not set brand criteria for when partner logos are used on branded materials. Partner co-branding should be determined by USAID on a case-by-case basis.
