November 2023: Upgraded Features

The latest release to the FEWS NET Data Explorer (FDE) includes user-friendly updates designed to efficiently provide the information you need. The Selected Filters drawer is now open by default to help you keep track of your selected filters. We’ve also fixed the scrolling behavior of the built-in tour to better display the highlighted features. There were some notable updates made to the Spatial domain, including a new KML file format download option and adding back the Metadata tab.

Read on for more details! Plus, check out our latest how to video to learn about identifying data sources and usage policies.

Global Updates

Domain Filter Drawer Stays Open

The Selected Filters drawer on the domain pages now stays open by default, making it easier to view your selected filters while building complex searches. You can click on the header of the drawer to collapse and reopen it as needed.

Built-In Tour Scrolling

We’ve improved the way the built-in tour scrolls down the page and displays the Copy Link and Download buttons to ensure all features are visible. Anytime you’d like an FDE refresher, you can access the tour by clicking on the profile icon in the upper righthand corner, then choosing Built-In Tour.

Spatial Domain Updates

KML Download Option

You can now select to download data from the Spatial domain as a KML file in the Customize sidebar.

Metadata Tab

You can view metadata information for your selected data series by selecting the Metadata tab.
