December 2023/January 2024: Essential Capabilities
Since our latest release to the FEWS NET Data Explorer (FDE) focuses on backend improvements, in this blog we’re taking the opportunity to recap a few of the biggest updates we’ve made over the past year. Read on to learn how you can take advantage of these key features. You’ll also find the details of notable recent bug fixes, and a video walkthrough of accessing data in the Prices domain.
2023 Feature Highlights
Searchable Customize Filters
Type in a search term to quickly locate the option you need in the Customize filters.
Usage Requirements Drawer
Identify the source document and usage requirement for your selected data at a glance using the Usage Requirements drawer in the Customize sidebar. Information about the usage policy is also available from the Metadata tab.
Retained Search Criteria
Your most recent search criteria is retained between visits to FDE, as well as when you refresh a page or move between pages. This allows you to pick up right where you left off without having to reenter your search terms or reselect filters.
You can select the Reset Search button at any time to clear your search criteria.
Deep Links
Deep links provide a direct pathway to specific data. When choosing filters, you’ll see your selections dynamically reflected in the web page URL. You can then share these links with other FDE users. Just keep in mind that a user’s ability to access a domain or data series through a shared link will be contingent on their permissions.
Recent Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where the API link for the Crop domain was not available after results were returned.
Fixed an issue where results would not return for certain combinations of markets in the Prices domain.
An error message will now alert users when they attempt to create a dataset with the same name as an existing dataset.
